Originally from the North, I’ve worked in marketing, PR and communications for most of my career.
I’ve enjoyed producing powerful and effective copy for a wide range of media, and get a kick out of taking on a project and seeing it through from an idea in somebody’s head to the finished product.
A background in PR
After cutting my PR teeth in London – first with leading international agency Hill & Knowlton, then with Saatchi-owned The Rowland Company – I went on to gain corporate communications experience at Dixons Group plc.
Making my mark with franchised family brands
For 16 years I then worked in-house in the franchised pre-school activities sector. At premium children’s music brand Monkey Music, I was a key member of the team that grew the business from just a handful of franchises to over 40. I also played a central role in their bfa Brand Builder of the Year award win in 2005.
More recently, I was Group Communications Manager for Water Babies. As ‘the voice’ of the brand, I was responsible for positioning Water Babies as the world’s leading specialist baby swim school.
I helped grow the company from 24 franchises in the UK teaching 16,000 babies per week, to an international business of almost 60 franchises teaching over 52,000 babies each week in 7 countries around the world. Furthermore, I drove the marketing for the development and rollout of their pre- and postnatal brand, WaterBumps.
Over the years, I helped secure a whole raft of award wins, including What’s On 4 Kids, EWIF, and the bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year awards 2016 (Gold).
In 2017, as part of my work on Splashathon, Water Babies’ charity event for Tommy’s, I created a range of impactful, action-focused communications which facilitated record-breaking fundraising of over £1 million. Not only did this event become one of the top 25 mass participation fundraisers, but was also named the fastest-growing in the UK.

I also believe in supporting your franchisees to be the best they can be, and have experience in developing training to help franchisees as they launch and grow their businesses.
These days, I’m based by the sea in sunny Devon (so lots of seagulls, but not many elephants!) and I’m happy to work with brands wherever they may be in the UK.
